About Vanessa Gajewska
I am a warmly relational, approachable, down to earth integrative Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor who works with individuals and couples wanting to address any number of issues affecting the quality and enjoyment of their lives. As such I use a range of theoretical models and methods to respond to individual needs in a way that is gentle, challenging and creative. My approach draws on: Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Emotion Focussed Therapy, Counselling for Depression, Psycho synthesis, Life Coaching, Communication Coaching, Transactional Analysis and Energy Psychology.
My qualifications include: MSc (Counselling Research), Diploma in Counselling (University of Bristol) a Diploma in Counselling Supervision, as well as Certificates in Workplace Mediation and Life Coaching. My Senior Accreditation by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Snr Accred) and registration with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP) means that my practice is professionally accountable. I am committed to ongoing professional development which keeps me up to date with current trends and research to enhance and support the services I offer.
As a therapist with over 25 years experience I have a background in Mental Health Services and have worked with a number of University Wellbeing Services as well as Occupational Health Departments at Bristol City Council, the Royal United Hospital in Bath and at The Dean Neurological Hospital (Gloucester). I am affiliated to a national network of therapists linked to a number of Employee Assistance Programmes; previously Lead Counsellor for South Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust I now provide one to one and group Supervision and Training for IAPT services, several Universities and other organisations as well as Supervision for individuals.
Consequently I have experience of a wide range of people in a variety of circumstances seeking help with low self-esteem, anxiety, stress and panic, depression, PND, confusion, feeling stuck or alternatively in transition, feeling powerless or out of control, abuse, trauma, bereavement, neglect and work-related issues. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework and receive regular professional Supervision.
